===== Interfaces and Standards used in Consortium Hardware =====

==== FMC (VITA 57.1) ====

This connector standard is used as on Gen4-Compatible DUT cards to interface with peripheral FMC modules as well as port for ConfigMon-like cards (i.e. scrubbers, FPGA configuration control via SMA). FMC is not just an electrical standard, but is a full interface standard that lacks data protocol definitions to be complete. It also specifies the use of certain active components to be present on carrier and module side, e.g. clock oscillators, and an EEPROM for per-standard purposes. However, most of these more specific requirements today are being ignored bei FMC module makers, as their usefulness varies between nice2have, circumstantial, and unnecessary clutter. Hence, the XRTC uses this standard as pure electrical and mechanical interface, while maintaining a good chance that a COTS module might work on a DUT card.

==== Teradyne (Amphenol NEXLEV Series) ====

This connector standard is used as very high-density DuT-to-FuncMon connector on the Gen4 Backplane, as well as on Gen4-Compatible DUT card. This is a pure electrical interface, no data standard and no protocol specified.
